One fun and adventurous way to enjoy the mountains is to go horseback riding. There are many area stables in the High Country that offer guided trail rides, as well as many trails in general that equestrian enthusiasts of all kind will enjoy.

The Blowing Rock Equestrian Preserve is home to America’s oldest continuous running horse show held in July and August of each year. The preserve is adjacent to the Moses H. Cone Memorial Park, and has access to over 26 miles of fun trails. The preserve has cabin rentals, camping, as well as horse boarding and guided horseback trail rides.

For people seeking a more private and intimate trail ride, Chadi Farms has trails that are all privately located on the family homestead in Valle Crucis. There are a variety of different trails that riders of all levels will certainly enjoy. Chadi Farms also offers horse drawn carriage rides, hayrides in the fall, and horse drawn sleigh rides in the winter. This place is truly one of a kind!

The Equestrian Center at Yonahlossee is known as the finest horse boarding and riding instruction in the High Country. The Saddle Club accommodates both visitors and residents of the resort with lessons and boarding options.
