The competition begins on July 26 with world class riders from around the globe battling in five disciplines: Cross Country (XC), Downhill (DH), Short Track (ST), Dual Slalom (DS) and Super D (SD).
The Showdown at Sugar NMBS welcomes invites all participants from beginner to pro riders in an action packed three days. The Men and Women’s Pro Downhill finals begin Sunday, July 29th at 12:15 am and 12:45 pm respectively. Perhaps the most exciting and popular events are the short track competitions which begin Sunday, July 29th at 3:00 pm 3:45 pm respectively. Medals are awarded to the top five finishers in all categories. In addition, a $5,000 prize purse will be awarded to the pro riders in DS, DH and XC.
Be sure to attend on Sunday at 1:30 pm and what the cutest event on wheels, the SHIMANO cross-country kiddy race. All kid’s events offer categories with age and ability appropriate track, terrain, loop and difficulty. It’s a lot of fun to watch.
There will be plenty of things to observe in the Expo/Tech area where teams exhibit the latest and greatest in all things bike related. There will also be free demonstrations from local vendors.
Blue Grass pickers, Boss Hawg will offer up live entertainment on Saturday from 4 to 6 pm on the ski lodge deck and the professional riders will be available for autograph session between 4:00 to 5:00 pm.
Food and beverages will be available each day in the Sugar Mountain Lodge.
